November is Native American Heritage Month. Take 30 (free) seconds this month to lend a hand to the First People of present-day Seattle, the Duwamish Tribe. The Duwamish built their ancestral home there and the City still carries the name of the Tribe's most well-known leader, Chief Si’ahl (Seattle). Now, the descedants of the tribe own less than an acre of land.
The Duwamish Tribe’s leadership has fought long and hard to hold the U.S. Government accountable for the promises made in the Treaty more than 165 years ago. They are still waiting.
