With major kudos to 16 years of grassroots work, Puerto Rico has established a 77 sq mile marine reserve to protect 14 endangered species. The Jardines Submarinos de Vega Baja y Manati reserve is including species such as the Greater Carribean Manatee and it hosts one of the largest Elkhorn coral colonies.
