How To Help Puerto Rico
Puerto Rico continues to reel two weeks after Hurricane Maria. The U.S. territory’s 3.4 million residents need help to recover from the storm and currently, 97% of the island is without power. ThatHelps’ cause partners Save the Children and Mercy Corps are on the ground helping children and families recover. But that’s not all you can do to help the people of Puerto Rico.
Here are 3 easy, vetted ways to support to these great causes and help Puerto Rico:
1. Donate to Save the Children’s Hurricane Maria’s Children Relief Fund. This money goes directly to children in Puerto Rico. Share the above graphic and link to donate on social media to spread the word!
2. Donate to Mercy Corps’ Puerto Rico Response Fund. This money also goes directly to families in Puerto Rico.
3. The Puerto Rican government issued this guide for donating emergency and construction supplies (like bottled water, hand sanitizer and formula to tarps and safety glasses). And if you’re interested in doing even more, VOAD is coordinating volunteers to help with the long-term process of rebuilding. Go here to learn more.
Don’t forget: the simple act of saying “Thanks” can have a huge ripple effect on everyone around you and inspire more acts of altruism.
